DECEMBER 30TH, 2008 WORMS KNIT TOO MEETING! This place looks so beautiful! I have had a really rough day today, so I hope some of the ladies who have joined Worms Knit Too can make it to the 6:30 meeting tonight to relaxe, knit and chat! Here's a little blurb I found about the coffee house: Located in an elegantly renovated Victorian house built in 1877, you'll find it hard to believe Uncommon Grounds is sited in Uptown Minneapolis on Hennepin. However, when you are cocooned in one of our plush emerald green booths rescued from the St. Paul Hotel's L'Etoile Restaurant or sipping and chatting with friends in the shaded outdoor patio, you'll know that you've found the "heart" of Uptown Minneapolis. When you visit us, you'll meet our loyal regulars and find a large crowd of all ages. Despite our elegant aura, you'll find the atmosphere casual and clean. A great pre-theater or after-dinner place to meet your old friends and make new ones. Drop in t

Change They Can LitigateThe fringe movement to keep Barack Obama from becoming president.By David WeigelPosted Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, at 4:25 PM ET If you want to stop Barack Obama from becoming president, there's still time. But you have to act right now. Go to RallyCongress.com , and you can be the 126,000th-odd American to demand "proof of citizenship" from the president-elect. Follow the instructions at WeMustBeHeard.com , and you can join a sit-in outside the Supreme Court of the United States, starting at 8 a.m. Friday, as the justices decide whether to consider a suit filed by a professional poker player that challenges the presidential eligibility of Obama, John McCain, and Socialist Workers candidate Roger Calero. Can't make it to Washington, D.C.? Too bad—you missed your chance to FedEx a letter to the justices for only $10 , sponsored by the venerable right-wing site (and Chuck Norris column outlet ) WorldNetDaily. I'm starting my own knitting group!

Image
Welcome all knitters beginning to advanced! Conservative to liberal, to no political views at all, I really dont care what your oppinions are as long as we all act like respecting adults and discuss issues in a polite and causal way! I want to start this group because the one I currently attend is very heavy with liberal views and I am pretty sure no one cares one bit that I have conservative views, I am sick of listening to how stupid conservatives are, even though all the women are very kind, funny and succseful, they are very unopen minded. So with that in mind I am going to be at Nina's on Selby Ave in St. Paul near the Cathedral at 6:30 pm on December 2, 2008 till when ever to knit, chat, and meet new people! Please come with a smile and a friend if you wish! If you have any questions feel free to email me!

What will happen? This case needs to be seen by the Supreme Court

OBAMA WATCH CENTRALSupremes to review Barack's citizenshipCase challenging his name on ballot set for 'conference' Posted: November 20, 20081:10 am Eastern By Bob Unruh© 2008 WorldNetDaily A case that challenges President-elect Barack Obama's name on the 2008 election ballot citing questions over his citizenship has been scheduled for a "conference" at the U.S. Supreme Court. Conferences are private meetings of the justices at which they review cases and decide which ones to accept for formal review. This case is set for a conference Dec. 5, just 10 days before the Electoral College is scheduled to meet to make formal the election of Obama as the nation's next president. The Supreme Court's website listed the date for the case brought by Leo C. Donofrio against Nina Wells, the secretary of state in New Jersey, over not only Obama's name on the 2008 election ballot but those of two others, Sen. John McCain and Roger Calero. The case, unsuccessful a

A Call for Help in Service Project

Image
I am a big supporter of our troops and I wanted to pass this along from the Heartstrings Fibber Arts website! Becky Washburn ( mailto:beckyknits@comcast.net?subject=Engineer ) is in need of helpers for a special service project. She writes ... Thank you very much for the free Mini-Sock pattern . It's very generous of you. My goal is to knit 850 of them for a very special Engineer Battalion currently deployed in the far out regions of Iraq for Christmas. At least 1/2 of these young men receive no mail or any sign of life from home. More of them than you would think don't get any mail at all. And a small token would mean the world to them. Do you think anyone would be willing to help me? I have a few done but a long way to go. And I know that Christmas will be particularly bleak. I am a friend of their Chaplain and I want them to each have something personal for Christmas, stuffed with a little something. I have some sport weight and some worsted weight, I just want them to be co

Expelled: No Inteligance Allowed

Image
Ben Stein's Film Blew Rush Away March 18, 2008 Listen To It! RUSH: Ben Stein has a new movie out. He brought it by my house Friday afternoon to screen it for me. It's called Expelled . It is powerful. It is fabulous. And here's the premise of his movie. The premise is that Darwinism has taken root, taken hold at every major intellectual institution around the world in Western Society, from Great Britain to the United States, you name it. Darwinism, of course, does not permit for the existence of a supreme being, a higher power, or a God. His interviews with some of the professors who espouse Darwinism are literally shocking. The condescension and the arrogance these people have, they will readily admit that Darwinism and evolution do not explain how life began. One of these professors said it might have been that a hyper-intelligence from another planet came here and started our race. This from some professor either in the UK, I forget where it was, but can't

American Carol

Image
I went with my husband and some good friends last night to see American Carol, its a hillarious, good time of a movie. I wish there had been more John Voight, but still a great movie. Here is a review of the movie, and the producer, I can get behind: Hollywood Takes on the Left David Zucker, the director who brought us 'Airplane!' and 'The Naked Gun,' turns his sights on anti-Americanism. by Stephen F. Hayes 08/11/2008, Volume 013, Issue 45 Los AngelesFor anyone who has ever been on a movie set, the commotion inside Warner Brothers Studio 15 will be familiar: serious-faced actors and actresses quietly rehearsing their lines; the director of photography huddled with his assistants around two high-definition screens inside a small black tent reviewing the last scenes; extras lounging around the set trying both to stay out of the way and to get noticed; carpenters busily working to construct the set for the next scene; a frazzled first assistant director guzzling Red Bull

I WANT TO LEARN HOW TO WRITE MY OWN KNITTING PATTERN

I AM WORKING ON A BLANKET FOR MY SISTER. I AM APPROCHING IT AS MY OWN SAMPLER, MAKEING EVERY SQUARE DIFFERENT SO THAT I GAIN NEW SKILLS AND EXPERIANCE WITH EACH NEW SQUARE. ITS BEEN EXCITING AND FUN, RIGHT NOW I AM DOING MY FIRST CABLE PATTERN EVER, ITS LOOKING PRETTY GOOD, BUT AT TIMES, LIKE WHEN I DROP A STICTH I WANT TO CRY! IT IS MUCH HARDER TO PICK UP A STICH WHILE WORKING ON A CABLE THAN JUST KNITTING OR PURLING! SOMEWHERE AROUND THE 9TH SQUARE I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE COOL IF ONE OF THE SQUARES HAD MY SISTERS NAME ON IT, SO NOW I WANT TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO MAKE MY WON PATTERN! I FOUND SOME HELPFUL INFORMATION AND WANTED TO SHARE.... (IT WAS SUPRISINGLY DIFFICULT TO FIND THIS INFO!) (Interview with Margaret Radcliffe, Author of The Knitting Answer Book Interview by Amy Brozio-Andrews) How do you prepare and write out your knitting patterns? My approach varies. Sometimes I play around designing on the needles without more than a vague plan of what I want. If it's successful and I

It is an expose written by Aaron Clarey, a credit analyst who worked at various banks in the Twin Cities and saw first hand the unethical, if not, illegal dealings that led up to the housing bubble and subsequent crash. Stories of commission-addicted bankers, bribed appraisers, FBI investigations, IRS raids, offshore bank accounts and more regale the reader with a blood-boiling story of corruption, incompetence and limitless greed. However, the book goes beyond exposing those responsible for the housing crash, and does an exemplary job of explaining, in clear and simple language, the economics behind the housing crisis and the consequences

Charity Spotlight: The Big Knit

Image
Innocent Drinks - award winning cause related marketing Innocent have partnered with Age Concern since 2004 on an innovative Cause Related Marketing campaign called The Big Knit. The project involves older people from Age Concerns around the UK, innocent consumers and Sainsbury's staff knitting little woolly hats to place on the top of innocent smoothie bottles. The bottles are then sold in Sainsbury's and for every one sold 50p goes to Age Concern to help keep older people warm at winter. This year we smashed the target with a total of 400,720 hats being knitted and a total £200,360 being raised. We are thrilled at the level of support from around the country. Thank you to everyone who took part and helped us to hit this massive target. Celebrities also got involved by designing hats, as you can see from the photo that Chris Tarrant designed a fish themed hat which was kindly knitted into a full sized version by some very nifty knitters at Age Concern Surrey. What sets this ca

Knitting Knockers

Knitting Knockers for Breast Cancer Awareness Saturday August 23, 2008 Knit breasts, courtesy of the Knitting Experience Cafe.My pal Pam Stephan over at About's breast cancer site just let me know about the Boob-a-thon happening at The Knitting Experience Cafe , a shop in Brunswick, Maine. The shop is run by a breast cancer survivor who was given a knit breast as a gift. Since 2007 the shop has been collecting knit prostheses to give to other breast cancer survivors. The shop's efforts were recently featured on WABI television news, which got picked up by CNN Headline News, and the "Boob-a-thon" continues through the end of the month.Chesley, the shop's owner, tells me they accept knit breasts throughout the year, not just in August, but people who drop them by the shop this month will be registered for prizes. She says they accept donations by mail, too, and anyone wanting to be in on the contest needs to include their name and address. If you want to help out y
